Professor Kirstin Henry, October 2021

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great regret that I have to inform you of the death of Professor Kirstin Henry, Emeritus Professor of Pathology at Imperial College London.  Professor Henry made outstanding contributions to the world of pathology, not least in the field of bone marrow and lymphoma pathology.  She was an early member of the European Lymphoma study Group, forerunner of the EAHP, and one of a 12-person NCI study group that assessed the utility of lymphoma classifications between 1975 and 1980, resulting in publication of the Working-Formulation.  A Past President of both the British Division of the International Academy of Pathology and the Central International Academy of Pathology there is an annual lecture in her name awarded by the BDIAP.  Professor Henry had a career long commitment to pathology education.  She was the inaugural Chair of the Educational Committee at the International Academy of Pathology and instrumental in establishing the Arab School of Pathology, now used as the template for many such schools promoting pathology education around the world.

Professor Henry was a friend and colleague of many of us within the EAHP and she will be sadly missed.

Yours sincerely,

John Goodlad
Scientific Secretary EAHP
