Presidential Newsletter April 29th, 2020

Amsterdam, April 29th, 2020

Dear members of EAHP, dear friends and colleagues,

Much to our disappointment, the Executive Committee of the European Association for Haematopathology has made the inevitable decision to postpone the 20th EAHP-SH Symposium and Workshop to be held in September 2020 in Dubrovnik to April 2021.

For many weeks, the COVID pandemic has taken its toll on our professional and personal lives. The situation may be improving in some countries, with public life very slowly and cautiously opening up in the coming few weeks, but others are still in most difficult circumstances and often complete lock down. It is to be expected that worldwide our activities will remain restricted in some form for a long time to come and gradually we must adapt to the “new normal” as difficult as it may be to predict what that may imply.

The success of the 20th EAHP-SH Symposium and Workshop depends on your contributions of cases and scientific abstracts, as well as your participation during the meeting. Therefore, to give as many of you as possible this opportunity, and to welcome you in Dubrovnik in a safe environment, we have decided to postpone the meeting to 24-29 April 2021.

Currently, we are preparing detailed information on abstract submissions, early bird registration, travel grant application and handling of existing meeting registrations and hotel bookings. This information will be communicated via a Newsletter to be sent out in the first week of May, and via the meeting website (https://www.eahp-sh2020.com/) where a FAQ page will also be posted.

Together with our meeting organizer MCI, we will do our utmost to offer you an inspiring EAHP-SH symposium and workshop in Dubrovnik when times will be better than now.

For now, my thoughts remain with you in difficult times.

Kind regards,
Daphne de Jong
President of the European Association for Haematopathology
